TORA TORA
TORA is a re-creation of the December 7th
1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. It’s accomplished through hundreds of
dedicated volunteers -- most belonging to the Commemorative Air Force (CAF)
working as ground crew, maintenance, pilots and pyrotechnic experts. The purpose is to create a dynamic history
lesson about the event that propelled us into World War II .....and
entertain.
TORA's re-creation is
usually the feature performance at organized air shows. It
involves many Japanese fighters and bombers simulating the Pearl Harbor
attack. In addition, TORA provides breathtaking
smoke, fire and explosions from the pyrotechnics team. A
professional announcer explains the purpose, history and performance to
the crowd.
Testimonial:
I
want to say THANK YOU! I was born in 1968 so I was not around at the
time of Pearl Harbor and I had only "experienced" it on
television. You performed this past weekend at the Altus AFB air show
and it was WONDERFUL!!! I am an emotional person (I cry at commercials,
the playing of taps, when I'm happy, when I'm sad - I would be
great in a soap operaJ
) and I must have had the folks around me thinking that I was scaredJ
The sounds, the smoke, everything made me feel as if I were THERE
experiencing it all. . .the pain and confusion that was going on. My 6
year old son (who is usually the scared one - LOVED it. . .his eyes were
big as saucers the entire time)
Your group did an awesome job of flying. . . .a few times there with all
the smoke, I grabbed a hold of my 11 year old daughters arm because I
didn't know HOW they could see with all the smoke around them!! All I
can say is AWESOME!!!! AWESOME !!! AWESOME!!!
Thank
you so much for bringing to life a part of history that myself and many
others have only read about or seen on TV..
A
new fan!
